Bachelor’s Degree exam for Tata Institute of Social Sciences

Date of Submission: November 10, 2006

Eligibility: A Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with minimum aggregate marks of 50% (40% for SC/ST) or equivalent grade from a recognised University. Those candidates who will complete their final year Bachelor’s degree examinations by June 23, 2007 will also be eligible to apply, provided they have obtained the required minimum percentage of marks specified, in their first and second year examinations taken together, if the degree course is of three years; and the first, second and third year examinations, if the degree course is of four years, for all the subjects examined. Admission Procedure: Eligible candidates will be called for a written test in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Guwahati, Lucknow, and Bhopal. Those who qualify in the test will be called to TISS, Mumbai for Group Discussion and a Personal Interview.

Application procedure: Application forms and information brochure can be procured on payment of Rs.750/- (non-refundable) per form by cash in person or by Demand Draft for Rs.750/- (in favour of Registrar, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, payable at Mumbai) by post. Application Forms will be available at/by: - The Cash Counter at TISS from Monday to Friday (10.30 am to 4.30 pm) and on Saturday (10.30 am to 1.00 pm); except on public holidays - Sending a request letter to the Deputy Registrar (General Administration), TISS, along with a Demand Draft of requisite amount and a self-addressed cloth lined envelope (20cm x 28cm); (to be completed and submitted along with a Demand Draft of requisite amount). Free application forms will be issued to those SC/ST candidates who are unemployed and whose parents/guardian’s income was Rupees One lakh or below in the financial year 2005-2006. Such candidates need to submit (i) a true copy of Caste/Tribe Certificate; (ii) Income Certificate of their parents/guardians; (iii) a self-addressed cloth lined envelope (20cm x 28cm) along with a request letter addressed to the Deputy Registrar (General Administration) of the Institute, fill it properly and submit along with a copy of Caste/Tribe Certificate and Income Certificate to the Deputy Registrar (Gen. Admn.) of the Institute. Completed forms should reach Deputy Registrar (Gen. Admn), Tata Institute of Social Sciences, V.N. Purav Marg, Deonar, Mumbai-400 088 on or before November 10, 2006.
