The CET is a 2½ hour objective test with multiple choice answers. The total marks for the written test is 200. The questions are an assorted variety, where the question types are distributed across the question paper.

Quantitative Aptitude: Numbers, arithmetic Problems, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, quantitative reasoning, interpretation of tables, common graphs and charts, etc.
Logical /Abstract Reasoning: Questions based on figures/diagrams and also questions on verbal reasoning.

Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (SET) is an examination for eligibility of lectureship in Universities and Institutes of Maharashtra. University Grants commission (UGC) has authorized the State Government/State Agencies on behalf of the State Governments to conduct the State Eligibility Test (SET) for lectureship. SET is conducted by University of Pune which is the state agency appointed by Government of Maharashtra.

The medium of Question Paper is English only. The syllabus in physics, chemistry and mathematics is similar to that of HSC examination board Maharashtra.
