MCI / DCI Norms
Every student, selected for admission to the Post Graduate medical / dental course in any of the medical / dental institutions in the country, shall possess recognized M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. degree or equivalent qualification and should have obtained permanent registration with the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India, or any of the State Medical / Dental Council or should obtain the same with in one month from the date of the admission, failing which the admission of the candidate shall be cancelled.
Provided that in the case of a foreign national, the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the Post Graduate training restricted to the college / institute to which the applicant is admitted for the time being exclusively for Post Graduate studies; Provided further, that temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subjected to the condition that such person is duly registered as medical practitioner in his own country from which the applicant has obtained his / her basic medical / dental qualification and that his / her degree is recognized by the corresponding medical Council or concerned authority.
As per the regulations of statutory bodies, as laid out in Post Graduate Regulation 2000 of Medical Council of India, the minimum percentage of marks in the entrance test for eligibility for admission to Post Graduate Courses shall be 50 percent for general category candidates and 40 percent for the candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes.
Rank list will be prepared only for those students who are qualified / eligible for admission to Post Graduate Courses as per the Medical Council of India as well as Dental Council of India Regulations.

PGET-Post Graduate entrance Test
PGET (Post Graduate entrance Test) is conducted by COMEDK every year for admission in various post graduate medical course in Karnataka Medical and Dental Colleges.
COMEDK entrance test is mandatory requirement for admissions into the Post Graduate courses of COMEDK Member Institutions.
COMEDK member institutions offers post graduate degree and post graduate diplomas in different disciplines. Post graduate degree is a three year full time and post graduate diploma is a two year part time programme.

Pattern of PGET Entrance Test
PGET consists of only one test for all Medical and Dental Courses respectively. The test contains 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be answered in 180 minutes.

Eligibility Requirements
Eligibility requirements for taking admission into post graduate degree and diploma courses of COMEDK institutions is MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) / BDS (Bachelor of Dental Sciences) from an institute recognised by MCI (Medical Council of India) / DCI (Dental Council of India)
Applicants must meet all the requirements stipulated by MCI / DCI. Accordingly, they should have successfully passed their M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. from an institute recognised by MCI / DCI, and must have completed / completing their internship by April of the year of entrance examination.
Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka -(COMEDK UGET)
The consortium is a unit established by the Karnataka Private Medical / Dental Colleges Association. Only those colleges which are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and recognised by the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India are eligible for the membership of COMEDK. The consortium will conduct the Common Entrance Test on behalf of management who are its members for admission to professional courses.
For admission to BDS course, the candidates are required to appear for the COMEDK UGET being conducted by COMEDK.

Selection and Admission
Based on the merit list prepared by COMEDK, A.B.Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences will call the eligible students who have applied to the Institute, for counselling, which will be held at the College at Deralakatte.
The admission granted is subject to:
1. Fulfilment of the norms / provisions made applicable by the Govt. of
Karnataka / Dental Council of India / Rajiv Gandhi University of
Health Sciences.
2. Payment of prescribed fees.
3. Submission of all certificates and testimonials in original + copies as
required.
Withdrawal of Admission: If a student decides to withdraw voluntarily from the college at any time before completing the course,
Application Procedure
The application form of COMEDK may be obtained from their office on payment of Rs.600/- by Demand Draft drawn in favour of βCOMEDK 2005β payable at Bangalore or from the office of the member institutions or from the office of the Nitte Education Trust, Mangalore. The form can also be downloaded from the website www.comedk.org.
