Lateral Entry To B.Tech. Programmes
Diploma holders in engineering / technology gets Lateral Entry in different engineering / technology programmes offered by the University in different institutes. The candidates must have to appear and qualify Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by the University. The Lateral Entry for Diploma holders is allowed in the third semester / 2nd year of different Engineering programmes according to per norms of All India Council for Technological Education (AICTE). Generally, the details of the vacancies are announced before the start of the counselling.

Admission to Second Year of B.Tech. / B. Pharm. Courses
Lateral Entry is not permissible in B. Arch. And B.H.M.C.T. programs.
Diploma holders can get direct admission into third semester of B.Tech. / B. Pharm. Programs in the institutes affiliated with U.P. Technical University.
Candidates (whose parents are domicile of UP) who have passed three year engineering diploma with minimum 60% marks from the institutes recognized by Board of Technical Education U. P. in any branch of Engineering / Technology other than Agricultural Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture can take admission into 3 rd semester of any branch of Engineering /
Lateral Entry
Lateral entry into 2nd year, 3rd semester degree courses in engineering / technology / architecture is available for diploma holders. Such candidates should have passed in 3 years diploma course in Engineering with at least 60% marks in aggregate from State Council of Technical Education and Training (SCTE & VT), Orissa or equivalent with minimum 60% of marks in aggregate for direct admission to the third semester degree courses specific to the diploma discipline of the candidate (See Table). The candidate must be a permanent resident / native of Orissa.

Common Entrance Test (CET) Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University
Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted by Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU). The entrance examination is held for the purpose of admission into different engineering, technological and scientific disciplines at bachelors’ degree level programmes leading to Bachelor of technology (B.Tech.). Admission to 6 years dual degree programme leading to Master of Technology (M.Tech.) and Lateral Entry to Engg. Diploma holders in different B.Tech. programmes is also offered through Common Entrance Test (CET).
The University also offers Master of Technology (M.Tech.) full time programme of 2 years duration and M.Tech.weekend programme of 3

A candidate must have passed in 12th Class of 10+2 pattern of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics provided the candidate has passed in each subject separately.
Candidate must additionally have passed English as a subject of study (core or elective) in the qualifying examination.
For B.Tech. / M.Tech. (Dual Degree) Biotechnology Programmes
A candidate must have passed in 12th Class of 10+2 pattern of CBSE or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Biotechnology provided the candidate has passed

Orissa State Candidates (S- Category)
For admission to colleges under state category one has to satisfy at least one of the following three criteria. However, for lateral entry for diploma holders, the parents of the candidate must be permanent resident of Orissa.
The candidate must have passed / appeared in 10+2 Science examination from any of the recognized institution in the State.
Parents of the candidate must be permanent resident of Orissa.
Sons/ daughters / spouse of the permanent employees of Government of Orissa / Govt. of India / Govt. of Orissa undertakings / Govt. of India undertakings serving in the State of Orissa

Electrostatics, electromagnetism & electrodynamics :Coulomb’s Law, Gauss theorem and its applications in calculating the field intensity, potential gradient due to spherical, cylindrical and plane charges. Calculation of capacitance of spherical, coaxial, cylindrical and parallel plate condensers, dielectrics, energy stored in an electric field. Circuital Law of magnetism, magnetic field intensity and flux density due to a long straight conductor, solenoid and toroid carrying current. Ferromagnetic material in a magnetic field, permeability B-H curves, cyclic magnetisation and hysteresis.
