Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education is the authority which holds the right to conduct examinations for the 8th, 10th, Plus One and Plus Two classes. In addition, Departmental Examinations like J.B.T., T.T.C and P.V.T.C are also being conducted by the Board. As many as 4.5 lac candidates annually appear in different Examinations, conducted by the Board.

The Examination shall be open to a student of an Institution affiliated to
the Board whose name is submitted to the Secretary duly certified by the
Head of the Institution on the form prescribed by the Board that he/she :
(i) has passed the class IX Examination of the affiliated institution.
(ii) has not passed equivalent or higher examination of any other
Board/University.
Time Of Examination
The Board shall conduct Matriculation examination at the end of
Class X in the course prescribed from the academic year 2008-
2009 and onwards.
