JMET : Eligibility

Eligibility

Candidates who have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent, or a Master’s degree in any discipline can appear for the JMET examination. Students appearing for the final examinations of the above mentioned qualifying degrees can also apply. Eligibility criteria to apply for the Management Programs of the individual Institutes are given below.

IISc Bangalore:
B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent in any branch of Engineering with at least Second Class.  
IIT Bombay :
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering with First Class or Postgraduate degree in Science with First Class.  
IIT Delhi :
60% marks in aggregate of all the years/semesters (55% for SC/ST) or 6.75/10 CGPA (6.25/10 for SC/ST) in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Pharmacy/ BSc Agri. Engg. or Master’s degree in Commerce, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications, Electronic Science, Environmental Science, Operations Research, Computational/Information Science and Agriculture for the 2-year full time MBA programme. Additionally at least two years of relevant work experience by 1st August 2004 is required for 3-year part time MBA programme for working executives
IIT Kanpur :
B.E./B.Tech. in any branch of engineering or equivalent with First Class.  
IIT Kharagpur :
First Class Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or Master’s degree in Science (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level) or First Class in Master’s degree in Economics/ Commerce (with Mathematics or Statistics at Bachelor’s level).  
IIT Madras :
B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent with First Class or equivalent from a recognized Institution or University. A Master’s degree with First Class or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized Institution or University.  
IIT Roorkee:
Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in any discipline of Engineering / Technology or its equivalent or a Master’s degree in any discipline, from a recognised Institute/University with atleast 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate or CGPA of 6.75/10 (6.25/10 for SC/ST) are eligible to apply.

JMET : Test Pattern

Test Pattern The test hour of the exam is 2 hours. The test will consist of 150 questions (objective /multiple choice types) and it will consist of the following sections: Verbal communication Logical reasoning Quantitative ability Data interpretation ability General business environment awareness There is negative marking for incorrect answers. For a wrong answer to a question, 25% of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted. The pattern of question paper is also subject to change in time to time.

Application You may apply online by visiting concern institute’s website. You could also obtain the brochure and application form from the GATE offices of the zone in which you select your test centre on payment of the prescribed amount by demand draft drawn in favour of the concerned institute. You could also obtain the brochure and application form by post, by sending a request to the Chairman, GATE, at any of the IITs and IISc.
