Introduction
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is conducted by West Bengal Board of Examination. The students who appear and find place in merit ranking of WB - JEE can get admission into BE degree programs available across 54 engineering colleges within the state of West Bengal. These colleges offers courses in a range of engineering disciplines like – Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computers and IT, Instrumentation and production and Industrial etc.

Eligibility
A candidate must be a citizen of India. A candidate who has appeared / appearing Higher Secondary i.e. 10 + 2 examination in the year of WB – JEE with at least 5 subjects of which not more than 2 subjects shall be vernacular subjects in General or Vocational stream of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. The candidate must have studied English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and vernacular or any other subject (Full marks not less than 100) or Equivalent examination of a recognized university or Board. The admission of a candidate will be subject to submitting the proof of having passed the qualifying examination during the time of counseling and admission.
For admission into Architecture i.e. Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.) courses a minimum of 50% marks are necessary in the qualifying examination.

Test Pattern
The pattern of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WB - JEE) for admission to engineering degree courses is as follows-
The question paper consists of 100 questions of 200 marks.
Each question carries 2 marks.
All the questions are of objective type or multiple choice type containing four options.
A correct choice is subject to award of 2 marks.
Negative Marking – For every 3 wrong answers –2 marks are awarded.
The candidate willing to take admission into B.E. / B. Tech Engineering Courses requires answering questions in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Those candidates who want to take admission into B. Arch. – Bachelor of Architecture degree course are require answering Aptitude Test in addition to Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

No. of Seats
More than 13000 seats are available in different engineering disciplines offered at various engineering colleges across the state of West Bengal. 22% seats are reserved for schedule casts (SC) and 6 % seats are reserved for schedule tribes (ST) category candidates. However, 15% seats of all the engineering colleges are filled on the basis of All India Engineering Entrance Examination – AIEEE.

Application Form
Application form for Joint Entrance Examination – JEE can be purchased from the sales counter of West Bengal Board of Examination or from designated branches of UTI Banks of Kolkata Howrah. Candidates also can request for the same through post. The board issues notification for the sale of JEE application form and date of entrance examination etc in each year.

Lateral Entry
Lateral Entry Scheme
Admission to Second Year of B.Tech. / B. Pharm. Courses
Lateral Entry is not permissible in B. Arch. And B.H.M.C.T. programs.
Diploma holders can get direct admission into third semester of B.Tech. / B. Pharm. Programs in the institutes affiliated with U.P. Technical University.
Candidates (whose parents are domicile of UP) who have passed three year engineering diploma with minimum 60% marks from the institutes recognized by Board of Technical Education U. P. in any branch of Engineering / Technology other than Agricultural Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture can take admission into 3 rd semester of any branch of Engineering / Technology.
Candidates (whose parents are domicile of UP) who have passed Diploma in Pharmacy from any institution of Uttar Pradesh recognized by Board of Technical Education, UP are eligible to take admission into 3 rd semester of B.Pharm. program only.
Candidates (whose parents are domicile of Uttar Pradesh) who have secured 60% marks in Diploma in Agricultural Engineering program can get admission into 3 rd semester of B.Tech. Agricultural Engg. Only.
Lateral Entry is not permissible in B. Arch. And B.H.M.C.T. programs.
