Application Form

Application form for Rajasthan Pre Entrance Test for Engineering, Agriculture and Pharmacy (RPETEAP) can be obtained on submitting a requisite amount of fee during the month of March / April. Application form along with the information brochure containing the details of RPETEAP can be obtained from the followings-

NIT-NIMCET : Eligibility

Eligibility

Candidates with an aggregate (all subjects put together) of 60% marks ( 6.5/10 CGPA) in Bachelor’s degree of minimum duration of 3 years from a recognized University in any discipline, with Mathematics as one of the subjects both in graduation and at 10+2 level are eligible. Those candidates who are appearing for the qualifying examinations in 2006 are also eligible to appear for the test. However, they will have to furnish proof of having passed in the qualifying examination, with an aggregate of 60% marks, at the time of counseling / admission. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to appear for the NIMCET-06.

The NIT MCA Common Entrance Test is a two and a half hours test. The test consists of 120 multiple choice questions with four choices for each question. Each correctly answered question carries FOUR marks and each wrongly answered question invites NEGATIVE ONE mark. The candidates have to mark the responses in the OMR sheets supplied at the time of examination.

Candidates have to bring their own HB pencil, eraser and ball point pen. Calculators, mobile phones or any other materials will not be allowed in the examination hall.

Pattern of Examination

The NIT MCA Common Entrance Test – NIMCET for admission to MCA courses at different NITs consists of 120 objective type questions. The duration of test is 2 ½ hours. Each correctly marked answer carries 4 marks and each wrongly marked answer attracts penalty of -1 mark. The final merit list of candidates for counseling and admission to MCA program is prepared on the basis of Common Entrance Test. The test is held in the following four subjects-

Mathematics – 40 Questions

Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning – 60 Questions

Computer Awareness - 10 Questions
General English – 10 Questions

Syllabus

The Syllabus for NITMCA entrance test consists of following four subjects-

MATHEMATICS :( 40 questions)

Set Theory: Concepts of sets - Union - Intersection - Cardinality - Elementary counting, permutations and combinations.

Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions.

Algebra: Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansions, Factorization, simultaneous linear/quadratic equations, indices, logarithms- arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, determinants and matrices.

Coordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equations of a line, intersection of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola.

Calculus: Limit of functions, Continuous functions, Differentiation of functions, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of function by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction; Definite integrals, Applications of Definite Integrals to areas.

Vectors: Position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.

Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles, heights and distances, General solutions of trigonometric equations.

ANALYTICAL ABILITY AND LOGICAL REASONING: (60 questions)

The questions in this section will cover logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude. Some of the questions will be on comprehension of a logical situation and questions based on the facts given in the passage.

COMPUTER AWARENESS: (10 questions)

Computer Basics: Organization of a Computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Structure of instructions in CPU, input / output devices, computer memory, back-up devices.

Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, Binary Arithmetic: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.

GENERAL ENGLISH: (10 questions)

Questions in this section will be designed to test the candidates’ general understanding of the English language. There will be questions on the following topics. Comprehension, Vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs, prepositions and articles), Word power, Synonyms and Antonyms, Meanings of words and phrases, Technical writing.

NIT-NIMCET : Admission/Application Details

Admission Procedure for Academic Session 2006 - 07

Admission Methodology, Application Form and Application Fee

NIMCET application is a comprehensive application form for the Entrance Examination and for admission to MCA at any of the NITs offering MCA programme. Candidates need not apply to each NITs separately for admission. The admission to MCA programme in all the 9 participating NITs will be through a single window centralized counselling at NIT Warangal in JUNE /JULY . Exact details in this regard will be intimated in due course to eligible candidates. Please note that there is no inter NIT transfer of candidates after being admitted into any of the NITs. Candidates once allotted a seat in any particular NIT will have to take admission at that NIT ONLY.

visit on theie respective websites. The application form for NIMCET can be downloaded from the web sites mentioned above.

Candidates can apply online only at www.nitc.ac.in. Such candidates are advised to take print out of the ADMIT CARD. Duly filled in ADMIT CARD along with the required fee in the form of Demand Draft, is to be sent by post or courier to The Convenor, NIMCET- 06, National Institute of Technology Calicut, NIT Campus post, CALICUT-673 601, KERALA.

Application received after the due date (due to postal delay or any other reasons) will not be considered.

The application fee for the Entrance test and admission to MCA programme is Rs. 700/- for OPEN and 350/- for SC/ST candidates. Candidates will have to take Demand draft for the above amount drawn in favour of “The Convenor, NIMCET-, payable at State Bank of India, Chathamangalam (code 2207) or any other nationalized bank payable at CALICUT/ KOZHIKODE. Candidates are advised to write their name and address on the reverse side of the Demand Draft.
