The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) will have two papers only instead of three as earlier. The new pattern would be followed from next exam scheduled on 8th April 2007. This new pattern will have two papers from all three disciplines (physics, Chemistry and math). Time will be three hours for both the papers. Joint Admission Board declared that “JEE 2007 will be a single-stage objective type examination consisting of two papers of three hours duration each to test comprehension and analytical ability of the candidates.” According to new pattern candidate can make two attempts in one year. The candidate who got admission in IT-BHU and ISM Dhanbad through JEE will not be allowed to appear again. The marks will be given separately for physics, chemistry and math.
The Joint Admission Board announced that IIT is going to increase the intake by about 54% once government allows the reservation for OBC in IIT.
At present IIT can admit 10% of total intake as foreign student. To attract more foreign students IIT is going to conduct the exams at Singapore and Middle East also.
