Highlights of IIT-JEE:
• JEE is held in two stages.
• You have to submit only one application for both the examinations.
• Screening Test is held during April.
• You will be eligible to appear at the Main Examination, to be held in May, only if you qualify in the Screening Test.
• You have not to pay separate fee for the Main Examination.
Pattern for JEE: The entrance examination consists of:
(1) A Screening Test of 3 hours in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with equal weightage for all the subjects.
(2) The Main Examination of three separate papers (non-objective
type) in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, each of two-hour for those who qualify in the Screening Test.
Important Note: The Screening Test is of objective type questions which are to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using HB pencils only.
The Main Examination will have conventional questions to be answered in the answer-book supplied.
Answering Languages for the Main Examination: The candidates are permitted to write answers in the Main Examination in any one of the following languages: Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
Reservation of Seats: as per rules.
Eligibility Criteria: The minimum academic qualification for admission through JEE is a pass in the final examination of 10+2 system or its equivalent. Those appearing in 10+2 final or equivalent examination may also appear in JEE (Screening Test and Main Examination) for consideration of provisional admission.
For admission to B. Tech. and 5 year Dual Degree in Biotechnology & Biochemical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, candidate must have had Biology or Life Science as a subject in the qualifying examination (10+2 level).
Age: 17 to 25 years. Candidates from SC/ST category are entitled to age relaxation as per rules. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate only is taken as authentic.
Screening Test is held at various centres spread all over India.
