Students admitted to the programme are eligible for the award of M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology on successful completion of the course.
Some of the courses offered at the Centre of Biotechnology are: General Mathematics, Statistics/General Biology-1, General Physics/ General BioIogy-II, Computer Applications in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Cell Biology & Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Molecular Genetics, Oligonucleotide Synthesis & Applications, Immunology, Genetic Engineering & Applications, Animal Biotechnology, Plant Biotechnology, Human Genomics, Cytogenetics & Bioinformatics, Fermentation Technology, Enzyme Technology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioprocess & Biochemical Engineering, and Vaccine development and Production etc. Summer training for 8 weeks is required after second semester, where students go to various research institutions, the third and fourth semesters involve conduct of research projects at the Center under the guidance of teh faculty at the Center.
The Center is pursuing Research programmes in the following areas: Plant Tissue Culture an Plant Biotechnology, Cyanobacterial Molecular Biology, Environmental Bioremedation, Drug Delivery system using synthetic oligonucleotides, Nano Biotechnology, Cyanobacterial Toxicology, Bio Leaching & Biohydrogen production.
