University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad: (14 seats)
Students admitted to the programme are eligible for the award of M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology.
The three departments: Biochemistry, Plant Sciences and Animal Sciences of the School of Life Sciences of this University offer this multidiscilinary course. During the first semester, courses like Cell Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry and Microbiology with related practicals along with Biostatistics.
In the later semesters, courses in Immunology, Biophysical, Biochemical Methods and Instrumentation, Plant Tissue Culture, Molecular Biology, Recombination DNA Technology, Microbial Biotechnology, Medical and Animal Biotechnology, and Bioprocess and Bichemical Engineering are offered. In the third and fourth semesters the students undertake project work in one of the research areas of the School.
The School of Life Science of the university has been established with an emphasis on interdisciplinary teaching and research in modern biology.
Each of the three departments of the School offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. program of study.
