The M.Sc. Biotechnology is a four-semester (two-year) programme offered by the Department of Studies in Applied Botany, Seed Pathology and Biotechnology, and is recognized by DBT. The students do not get any scholarship.
The major thrust areas of the Department include Plant Biotechnology, Cell and Tissue Culture, Molecular Plant Pathology, Cancer Biology, Bioprospecting and Microbial Technology. Students are imparted theoretical and practical training in Principles of Biochemistry, Biochemical Techniques, Biophysics, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Molecular Genetics, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Immunology, Seed Biology and Biotechnology, and Molecular Plant Pathology. The students are required to give one seminar per semester and have to undertake a project work in the fourth semester at Biotechnology research institutions or industries.
