Joint Entrance Test (JET) - 2007 For The State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training

Examination name : Joint Entrance Test (JET) - 2007 for admission to Diploma Courses in Engineering

Eligibility: The test is open to candidates who have passed the Matriculation or equivalent examination in Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) and English, provided that a candidate who has appeared for the qualifying examination but whose result has not been declared shall be admitted provisionally to the Joint Entrance Test but his/her candidature shall be cancelled if he/she fails to qualify in the qualifying examination or fails to produce the proof of his/her having qualified at the time of counseling. Such candidates will have no claim, whatsoever, with regard to the admission to any course. There is no lower or upper age limit for admission.

Application procedure: Prospectus cum Application Form will be available from 9th April, 2007 at a cost of Rs.250/- during banking hours at the counters of the branches of the State Bank of Patiala, Designated Institutes and Board’s Office. Exam. Fee: Rs.520/- (for General Category) and Rs.260/- (for SC/ST Categories) in the form of cash for Bank Draft along with the completed Application Form. Application Forms can also be submitted in the office of the Board at Plot No.1-A, Sector-36-A, Chandigarh-160 036 (near Batra Cinema). Application form can also be sent to the Board’s Office by Registered post. The Board will not be responsible for any postal delay. Candidates are advised to submit the completed application forms with the handling charges of Rs.20/- only at the counter of designated branches of State Bank of Patiala/Designated Institutes. While submitting the application form, candidate must ensure that a photocopy of the SC/ST certificate is enclosed in the envelope provided with the application form.

About JET: JET question paper consists of English, Aptitude, Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry. The unit wise allocation of marks is given alongwith syllabus in the prospectus. The question paper is printed in English and Punjabi. The question paper has multiple choice objective type questions only. There are no short answer OR descripitive questions in any of the question paper. The question paper will have multiple choice objective type questions only. There will be no short answer or descriptive questions in any of the question paper. The objective type questions shall be answered on a pre-printed Optical Mark Reader (OMR) answer sheet. The candidate is required to mark his/her responses as per instructions given on the OMR answer sheet. The syllabus for this test is broadly based upon the syllabus as prescribed for Matriculation Examination (i.e. 9th and 10th classes) of School Education Boards.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) will have two papers only instead of three as earlier. The new pattern would be followed from next exam scheduled on 8th April 2007.
