The National Institute of Technology Srinagar was established in 1960. The Deemed University being granted this status in August, 2003, in terms of the relevant act of the University Grants Commission (UGC). Like all the other National Institutes of Technology, this institute was also initially set up as a Regional Engineering College after the country’s independence.The beautiful Dal Lake provides a scenic backdrop to the institute with the Hazratbal shrine adding a touch of religious fervor. The Institute receives financial assistance from both the Central and the State Governments and is affiliated to the University of Kashmir. The university provide graduate and postgraduate program.
