Post Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering

Why You Should Join? The main aim of the course is to develop a pool of technically trained manpower readily available for recruitment to the Indian Power Sector. The course improves and enhances the knowledge and skill of the diploma engineers sponsored by the Power Utilities.
About the Course: The course is of one year duration (2 Semesters) and covers various aspects of Operation & Maintenance of Thermal Power Plants. Formal coaching shall be held at Regional Institute of NPTI, located at Badarpur, New Delhi. On-job training is conducted at the nearby Power Stations. The course authorises the Diploma Holders to operate or undertake maintenance of any part or whole of generating station of capacity 100 MW and above together with the associated sub station.
Eligibility: Three years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized Technical Board with minimum of 55% marks.
Selection Procedure: Merit (% of marks)
Age Limit: 27 years as on 07.01.2008. No age limit for sponsored candidates.
Total Seats: 60 (SIXTY). Reservation for SC / ST / Physically Handicapped and other categories is applicable as per Govt. norms.
Placement: NPTI maintains close linkages with Power Utilities for employment of these trained engineers.

Fees: For Non-sponsored candidates Rs. 50,000/- (in two installments). For candidates sponsored from SEBs / PSUs / Private Utilities Rs. 85,000/- payable in lump-sum at the time of admission. There is no fee concession for any category of candidates. Refundable security of Rs. 2,000/- and Rs. 3,000/- as Transport charges for visits to power stations and industries are payable separately at the time of admission.

Lodging / Boarding: Facilities available on nominal charges. Separate Hostel for girls.
