Admission Procedure

All candidates seeking admission to the above programs should appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) to be conducted by IIMs on November 18, 2007. The candidates should follow the CAT advertisement of IIMs in leading newspapers on July 15, 2007, for procurement of CAT Bulletin. Closing date for sale of CAT Bulletins through designated branches of bank(s) is August 16, 2007 and through IIMs it is August 20, 2007. CAT is used for short-listing 6andidates who apply for admission to NIBM. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the Programs.

Apply to NIBM by filling a separate application form, furnishing CAT Reg. No. and Centre No.

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CAT scores will be called for Group Discussion and Interview for final selection during February/March 2008.

The Programs is fully residential.

Must have completed six or twelve months rotating internship / house job, as the case may be, after passing the qualifying examination as stipulated by CCIM by 04.09.2006
The admission test will be held on Sunday, 30.07.2006 at Jaipur.

No TA or DA will be paid to the candidates for appearing in the admission test.

Admissions to Ph.D., Integrated Ph.D. and PDF Programs in Neuroscience for The Year 2008

NBRC is a premier Institute with an objective to pursue research in the frontier areas of Neuroscience to understand brain function in health and disease. Research areas include Molecular, Cellular, Systems, Cognitive, Computational and Theoretical Neuroscience.

Details of the research activities are available at www.nbrc.ac.in. Applications are invited for admissions to Ph.D., Integrated Ph.D. and PDF Programmes.

Selection process for Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D. will involve an entrance test followed by interview of the short-listed candidates. The entrance test will consist of Multiple Choice Analytical questions. A few sample questions are available at the link: http://nbrc.ac.in/admissions2008.

1. Ph.D. in Neuroscience

Eligibility

1. Master’s degree in any branch of Science such as Biology / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science / Psychology or equivalent.or

2. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent. or

3. Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent.

Candidates appearing for the final year of qualifying examination are eligible to apply.

Candidates who have qualified for JRF in CSIR / UGC / ICMR / ICCSR/ DBT-JRF or any other equivalent national examination carrying fellowship are exempted from appearing for the entrance test. They should apply with the proof of qualification. They may be called for the interview subject to fulfilling the other requirements.

2. Integrated Ph.D. in Neuroscience

Eligibility

1. Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science such as Biology / Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science/ Psychology or equivalent. or

2. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent.

Candidates appearing for the final year of qualifying examination are eligible to apply.

On successful completion of the program the students will be given both M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees. All the candidates for the Integrated Ph.D. Program will have to appear for the Entrance Test.

Important Information

Note 1: Only the candidates with a continuous track record of atleast 55% marks throughout the academic career starting from 10th class will be considered.

Note 2: Candidates appearing for the final year of qualifying examination have to submit proof of having qualified in the examination latest by 31st July, 2008.

Note 3: Candidates claiming equivalence to any of the degrees or examinations carrying fellowships mentioned in this advertisement will have to furnish satisfactory proof from appropriate authority. It is upto NBRC to accept it or not. No correspondence would be entertained in this regard.

Note 4: Concessions / Reservation to SC / ST candidates will be as per Government of India/ UGC/ NBRC Policy.

The candidates submitting their applications on-line should send the demand draft and copies of certificates by post along with a copy of acknowledgement of their online application.

Application forms can be downloaded from the NBRC website (www.nbrc.ac.in). and the same is also available with the Academics Section, NBRC which can be collected in person or obtained through post / courier by sending a demand draft of Rs.50/-(non-refundable) drawn in favour of Director, NBRC payable at Manesar / Gurgaon.

Completed application forms along with copies of proof of qualifying examination, one passport size photograph and non-refundable fee (Rs.750/- for the candidates applying online and Rs.850/- for the candidates applying offline, Rs.200/- for SC / ST candidates applying through both online or offline) in the form of demand draft in favour of Director, NBRC payable at Manesar / Gurgaon should be sent to the Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, NH-8, Manesar -122050, Haryana latest by 18th January, 2008.

Incomplete application forms will not be considered and will summarily be rejected.

The entrance tests for both Ph.D. and Integrated Ph.D. programmes will be conducted on 24th February, 2008 at Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Pune. (Any Test Centre may be cancelled or altered at the discretion of NBRC, for want of sufficient number of candidates appearing at that Centre).

Short-listed candidates after the Entrance Test will be called for a two tier interview at NBRC. Train fare for ordinary sleeper class from the nearest railway station will be paid to the candidates attending the interview, on production of tickets. Selection will be based on performance in the interview.

The dates of interview will be intimated later on and also be placed on our website. Decision of the screening/selection committee will be final and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. Selected candidates will be eligible for scholarship as per rules and will be provided hostel accommodation.
