The SSR Medical College, Mauritius running its 8th Batch caters to both local and overseas students. Students from more than 12 countries are enrolled at this Medical College having world-class facilities, acclaimed by experts from U.K. as “better than many Medical Colleges in U.K. & South Africa”. Applications are invited for admission to the MBBS Course commencing in Nov 2006.
The college is run by the LOMIT and is recognized by the Govt. of Mauritius. The Clinical Training is provided at the JLN & Victoria & other Regional Hospitals of the Govt. of Mauritius having more than 3000 beds covering all the super specialties. The associates of the institution are also in the process of setting up a 500 beds hospital in a cosmopolitan town in India for internship & P.G. Post Graduates Courses in selected specialties are proposed to begin from 2007.
The Syllabus, based on the latest guidelines of the Medical Council of India, for the five years (3+3+4 Semesters) Course and 1 year internship is recognized by the Medical Council of Mauritius. The College is recognized by the ECFMG (USA) for listing in the IMED & also by the WHO. WHO & IMED listing enables our students to take the PLAB & USMLE – Step 1 and 2 in Mauritius itself which has been declared a center for USMLE examinations.
The status of the college is already recognized for issuance of the “Eligibility Certificate “by the Medical Council of India. The Indian graduates of first 2 batches have posted 100% pass rate at the screening test conducted by the National Board of Examinations, Govt. of India, which entitles them to register with the MCI & practice in India.
Our graduating batches are under going internship in India at St. Stephen’s RML, Sir Gang ram, Deen Dayal Upadhaya Hospitals at Delhi; KEM Hospital, Mumbai; Govt. SHMS Hospital, Srinagar; Civil Hospitals, Sec – 16 & 32, Chandigarh; Govt. Medical College & Rajendra Prasad Hospital, Patiala; Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner; Veer Hospital, Katmandu, Nepal & in different hospitals in Mauritius, South Africa & respective countries of our students.
In pursuance of international standard, quality education and training, applications will be considered only from applicants having passed class 12th or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with minimum 60% Marks in PCB and English and reached the age of 17 years on 31st Dec, 06.
Admissions will be based on merit and means. The applicants would be interviewed by the Admission Panel comprising of representatives from the University of Mauritius and the Ministry of Health, Govt. of Mauritius, headed by the Chairman, Admissions are subject to admissibility of eligibility of the candidate by the University of Mauritius.
Separate on the campus accommodation is provided for Boys and Girls.
