Registration start: 10 Nov. 2006 Registration end: 30 Jan. 2007 Examination: 24-25 Feb. 2007 Objective: University of Pune (UoP) on behalf of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, will conduct the Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC) examination. The objective of this examination is to identify bioinformatics professional. This will help potential employers in recruitment of exceptional candidates.

Eligibility: Any graduates in science, agriculture, Veterinary, Medicine, Pharmacy, engineering and technology are eligible to appear in the examination. They need not have any formal training, diploma, or certificate in bioinformatics.

Application and Syllabus: The online application can be filled from 10th November 2006 to 30th January 2007. National advisory committee approved syllabus is available online. It consists of four sections: biology, physical and chemical sciences, IT, and bioinformatics.

Examination: The examination fee is Rs.600/- for general and Rs.450/- for reserved category (as per government of India rule) and is scheduled on 24-25 February 2007. The paper I will be objective type. The paper II will be short answer type, while the paper III will be a computer-based practical. This year a cash prize will be awarded to the top 5 bioinformaticians.

MBA (Biotechnology) is an upcoming discipline, integrating Biotechnology and Management. The Department of Management Sciences, University of Pune has pioneered a two year full time MBA (Biotechnology) degree program since 2002 (intake capacity 60 seats), along with its two year full time MBA program running successfully since 1971.

For Full-time/Part-time Programme in the Departments of the University, Colleges affiliated to this University and recognized Research Institutions in Arts, languages, Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences and Basic Medical Sciences for July 2006 Session.

To facilitate a time bound approach admission to Ph.D. Programme, admission could be made four times in a year (i.e.) in January, April, July and October of every calendar year. Candidates should submit their applications on the first working day of a quarter viz., January, April, July and October.

Eligibility
:

The teachers from University Departments /affiliated colleges are also informed that they should apply for admission to Ph.D. Programme in the above sessions.

Candidates with fellowships from funding agencies like UGC, CSIR, GATE etc., and project fellows could register at any time of the year. Candidates belonging to SC/ST are exempted from payment of application cost, as well as Registration fees subject to the production of attested Xerox Copy of community certificate issued by the competent authority.

Full-Time Candidates:

A Candidate should have obtained a Master’s Degree with not less than Second Class or equivalent Grade. In the case of examinations, where classification does not exist, a minimum of 50% marks is needed in the qualifying examination.

A Candidate should pass an Entrance Examination (written and oral) administered by duly constituted committee of the Department in the University or of an affiliated college where the candidate proposes to undergo Ph.D. programme.

Part-Time Candidates:

A Teacher working in the Department of the University or an affiliated college of the University or Higher Secondary School or High School or Polytechnic within the territorial jurisdiction and with a qualifying degree fulfilling the above eligibility can apply.

A Candidate employed other than as a teacher in a permanent job, within the territorial jurisdiction of this University with a minimum of four years of total working experience Put in continuously with the qualifying degree and satisfying the rules framed separately by the Syndicate from time to time with the above eligibility can apply.

Colleges affiliated to the University of Mysore and other Registered Educational Institutions/ Trust / Organizations may apply in the prescribed proforma in Duplicate seeking renewal of affiliation for existing courses and fresh affiliation and for starting NEW colleges / New courses : subjects and Permanent Affiliation for the Academic Year 2008-09.

The existing Colleges having good academic and administrative standards prescribed by the University / Government may submit their applications to start Post - graduate Courses in their affiliated Undergraduate Colleges.

Registered Educational Trust / Organizations / Society after strictly following the rules / regulations stipulated by the NCTE / Government and University, may also submit their applications seeking affiliation for starting new B.Ed / B.P.Ed / B.A.Ed and B.Sc Ed Colleges.

As per the Government Orders, 50% of Affiliation Fee concession will be given to the Colleges run by the SC / ST Management.

Applications are invited from eligible candidates to the following Under-graduate/Post graduate degree courses under fully self-finance scheme at Yuvaraja’s College, Mysore-570 005, Karnataka, India.

Course –5 year Integrated M.Sc. course in Molecular Biology

Eligibility: Students from all over India, who have completed the pre-university Course or equivalent course in science stream with at least 55% marks in aggregate (excluding languages) and at least 55% marks in Biology (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) are eligible to apply.

The compulsory entrance test of All India level will be held at Yuvaraja’s college on 02-0-2006 between 11.30 am and 01.30 pm. The selection is purely on the basis of performance in the entrance test.

Course-M.Sc. in Chemistry (4 semesters)

Eligibility: Candidates applying for admission to M.Sc. in Chemistry shall have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in cognate/optional subjects in all the years of qualifying examination.

Course –4 year Integrated B.Sc., Ed course (8 semesters)

Eligibility: Candidates seeking admission to B.Sc.Ed, course must have passed the pre-University Examination to B.Sc., Ed, of Karnataka or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by the University of Mysore with 45% marks in the aggregate. However, relaxation up to 5% marks shall be given in the case of SC/ST candidates.

Further, the candidates must have passed Pre-University Examination with any basic science combinations.

Admission Procedure

The application form may be obtained from 8-6-06 in person from the Principal on payment of Rs.120/- They can also get through post by sending the Demand Draft for Rs. 120/- plus Rs.80/- towards postal charges. They can also download the application forms for Molecular Biology from the web ycm.unimysore.ac.in and submit the same along with a Demand Draft for Rs.120/- another Demand Draft for Rs.300/- favoring the Principal, Yuvaraja’s College, payable at SBM, Mysore will have to be enclosed to the application form.

Separate application for admission to each course.

The filled in application together with the Demand Drafts along with necessary certificates and copies of marks cards should be submitted to the Principal, Yuvaraja’s College, Mysore-570 005 on or before 26-6-06 (latest by 5 pm)
Fee structure Rs.50, 000/- per year (or Rs. 25, 000/- per semester)

No postal intimation will be sent. The list of selected and waiting candidates will be displayed on the notice board.
