SCHOLARSHIPS IN Australian Development Scholarships

Australian Development Scholarships (ADS)
Since 1997 Australian Development Scholarships (ADS) are offered only to persons from certain developing countries with the aim that the awardees will use the knowledge acquired and skills learned in Australia for the development of their own country. These are awarded to candidates who are nominated by the home government and under the open category to applications who need not be nominated. Selection criteria for these scholarships varies for which information is available from the Australian High Commission, New Delhi.

Applicants in each category are chosen on academic merit and meeting selection criteria developed jointly by AusAID and the Indian Government. Half the scholarships are awarded to men and the other half reserved for women. ADS facilities are offered by all the universities in Australia to students pursuing a technical, language, graduate or postgraduate courses. These include Technical Training Institutions, covering tuition fees, air fare, health insurance and maintenance allowance.

How to apply:
Your first step should be to’make enquiries with your country’s nominating authority. Australian Education Centres and Australian Diplomatic Missions can provide you with its name and address. If you appear to be eligible, you should submit a nomination form to the authority through your employer.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering Graduates

Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering Graduates (GATE)
Admission to Postgraduate Programmes, with MHRD and other Covt. Scholarship/Assistantship in Engineering/Technology /Architecture/’Pharmacy/ Science at Engineering Colleges/Institutes in the country are open only to those who qualify through GATE. Candidates are required to find out the procedure of final selection and award of scholarship/assistantship from the institutions in which they seek admission.

Eligibility for GATE:

The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear for GATE:

(a) Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Pharmacy and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes;

(b) Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final of such programmes.

c} Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-Year Integrated Master’s degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higheryear of theFive-YearlntegratedMaster’sdegree/Duai degree programme in Engineering/Technology;

(d) Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/A1CTE as equivalent to B.E/ B.Tech. Those who have completed Section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

Scheme of Examination
All candidates for GATE have to appear in a single paper of 3 hours duration and of 150 marks.

All Question Papers are of fully Objective type. There is negative marking for each wrong answer. The deduction would be 25% of the marks allotted. Candidates qualified in XE or XL paper would be further examined by the admitting Institute to assess their suitability for a particular programme.

Candidate is free to choose any of the papers according to his/her admission plan keeping in mind the eligibility criteria.

Candidates studying in the fourth year of 5 year integrated M.Tech/Dual degree programme are treated at par with those in the final year of 4 year BE/BTech programme and are expected to appear in the paper appropriate to the discipline of their qualifying degree.

Normally GATE score is valid for two years.

Application for GATE may be submitted either ONLINE (Internet based) or by Post. Application fee* for the online mode is Rs.900/- and by post mode is Rs. 1000A (Rs. 400 by online and Rs. 500/- by post for SC/ST candidates). Online submission of applications may be done by accessing the websites of NTs and MSc Bangalore. *Subject to change from time to time.

Information Brochure and Application Forms are also available by Post from/ at the counter of GATE Offices on payment of Application fee by Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Institute where the candidate intends to register. Two self-addressed slips are to be enclosed along with the request to the Chairman-GATE of the concerned Institute. The Registration fee is not refundable.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE HINDU HITACHI SCHOLARSHIPS

THE HINDU HITACHI SCHOLARSHIPS, Tokyo, Japan, offers Scholarships for technical training in japan. The number of scholarships is three. The terms and conditions are as follows:

1. Candidates who must be Indian citizens, should not have completed 30 years of age as on March 31 of the year of admission and should have B.E. or B.Sc. (Engg.) or its equivalent from any recognised university. Candidates who have already had practical experience in the branches for which training is proposed to be given, are given preference. Candidates with at least one year’s professional experience need apply. Those who were interviewed in previous years for the Scholarships need not apply again.

2. The Scholarships are tenable in Japan for principally six months commencing in July. Trainees may have general training in two or more of the following product fields of Hitachi Ltd. (Hitachi) for example,

(1) Information and Telecommunication System; (2) Power and Industrial Systems; (3) Digital Media, being subject to the convenience of each of Hitachi’s establishments.

3. Trainees shall be, during their training, under the supervision and direction of Hitachi, which has full discretion on scope, mode, duration and place of establishment of their training. Training is not available in the design and R & D activities of Hitachi. They are subject to the rules and regulations and the discipline of the establishment to which they are posted. If the total training period in the fields of a trainee’s interests does not reach six months, Hitachi may trainees in any other field for training at Hitachi’s discretion to fill the balance period. If this effort fails, training for the concerned trainee are limited to a four-month duration.

4. Selected trainee are provided with return economy Class air passage. Arrangements are also made for fee Boarding and Lodging for trainees in Japan, and to defray all expenses for travelling in Japan which may be considered necessary for their training. In addition, each trainee is paid a monthly fixed allowance to cover his personal expenses.

5. Parents or guardians of selected candidates shall guarantee their good conduct and shall undertake to pay for their repatriation should their conduct be found unsatisfactory by Hitachi Ltd., or any, public authority in Japan or in case the selected candidates desire to discontinue their studies in Japan for any reason whatsoever during the period of their scholarships.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN ALL INDIA MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION

ALL INDIA MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION, Management House, 14 Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, New Delhi 110003 offers Scholarships up to Rs. 60,000/- to weaker sections of society undergoing management education in AICTE approved/University affiliated B-School.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN TATA INSTITUTE OF FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH

TATA INSTITUTE OF FUNDAMENTAL RESEARCH offers admission for Junior Scholars. Areas of study: Research is carried out in Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, Structural Biology, Neurosciences, Molecular Genetics, Cancer and Virology. The methodologies used include spectroscopy, microscopy and imaging, molecular biology, genetics, protein design and engineering, immunology, computer, modelling, electrophysiology and biophysics.

Eligibility: Students with a good basic degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or any branch of biology. Students appearing for their degree exmination are also eligible for admission. Financial Assistance: Junior Scholars are paid a fixed monthly scholarship of Rs.2000/- p.m. An upward revision of the monthly scholarship is expected. There is an annual contingency education grant of Rs.2000/ tenable upto 3 years.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN B.D. BANGUR ENDOWMENT EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS

B.D. BANGUR ENDOWMENT EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS: Loan Scholarships are offered to Indian nationals to undertake higher studies abroad for Master’s Degree or for Doctoral Courses in Science, Engineering, Humanities, Medicine, Business Administration and other Professional Courses.

These scholarships are offered for one year extended for a further period of six months in exceptional cases.
Subject: Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy.

Eligibility: Candidates should be ordinarily residents in India for at least five years preceding October 1. These scholarships are tenable at a medical institution in the U.K.

Age limit: 40 years.

Value: Airfares, allowances, book grant, cost of preparation of thesis, cost of travel within UK in connection with training or studies. Registration fee payable to the General Medical Council, Nursing Council and Medical Protection fee. Normally a tuition fee for any course of studies is not payable out of the Trust fund but the trustees may consider providing some financial assistance towards this fee.

S.K. PATIL LOAN SCHOLARSHIPS are offered to students of Indian nationality for Higher Studies Abroad in Engineering, Technology, Medicine and Other Professional courses.

Eligibility:

(a) They must possess a First Class degree of a recognised Indian University and have consistently First Class acao< -nic record right from SSC examination.

(b) They must have secured admission, or should have at least applied for admission in reputable foreign universities for course commencing from September of the year of application but not later than February of the year next to the year of application.

(c) The age of students at the time of application should not be above 27 years.
