Two Scholarships are offered to Indian nationals residing in India. Subject/Fields of Study: Fine Arts Greek Language.

Eligibility: Age: 23 years (25 years for SC/ST), may be relaxed up to 3 months in case of deserving candidates, for subjects at (b) below 35 years. Qualification: (a) Fine Arts 5 years national diploma/Degree in Fine Arts. Preference is given to Master’s degree holders, (b) Greek Language Bachelor’s degree in Greek Language Also: Adequate knowledge of Greek, English/French and Geography, Culture and Heritage of India and Greece. 3/5 years consecutive stay in India after return from abroad for study/training. Ph.D. degree holders are not eligible.

Value: For subjects at (a) above Allowance of 45,000 Drachams p.m. (Approx US $ 280) for PG students; initial settlement allowance of 10,000 Drachmas (Approx US $ 63) for University of Athens and 20,000 Drachams (Approx US $ 125) for university outside Athens; 10,000 Drachams for travel in the country if required for their research work; free tuition and medical care.

Commonwealth Scholarships tenable for higher studies/research/specialised training in the subjects mentionea below in the United Kingdom are offered to the Indian Nationals. Fifty-five nominations are to be sent to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, out of those, twenty two are for one-year or two-year Master Degree course and thirty-three are for three year Ph.D. course.

Eligibility: The applicants are normally accepted from those who have graduated first degree or Master’s programme within the last ten years. The candidates must have completed tertiary education in English Medium.

For Master’s Degree: One must have completed Bachelors Degree in one of the subject fields indicated above securing 55% or above marks in Humanities and Social Science group and 60% or above marks in Medicine, Engineering & Technology, Science and Agriculture group. Candidates should give one page academic justification for pursuing Master Degree course in U.K.

Candidates who wish to undertake postgraduate study in Business and/or Management should, before applying for a Commonwealth Scholarship, have taken the Graduate Management Admission Test (Princeton Test). Candidates in Art and Music should submit appropriate specimen work (slides, cassettes etc.) with their applications.

Value of Award:

(a) Student concessionary or other approved air fare to the United Kingdom by the mostdirect and economical route and return on expiry of the Scholarship (the cost of journeys made before receipt of awards would not normal ly be reimbursed, nor can fares be paid for a Scholar’s dependents);

(b) Approved tuition and examination fees;

(c) A personal maintenance allowance payable monthly;

(d) A grant for books and apparatus in the first year of study and for a subsequent full year also; and a grant towards the expenses of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable.

(e) A grant of expenses of approved travel within the U.K.;

(f) An initial clothing grant for most scholars on first arrival from tropical developing countries;

(g) Where a host institution has in advance declared and the Commission has accepted, the need orfieldwork outside the United Kingdom, a grant towards the cost of such fieldwork, which shall not normally exceed one economy
or tourist class return fare to the fieldwork location. Scholars for whom fieldwork fares are provided to their home country shall not be entitled to a mid-term fare home.

(h) For married scholars selected by the Commission for awards exceeding 12 months, a marriage allowance per mensem > payable provided that the husband and wife are residing at the sam* address in the United Kingdom. It is not paid when a husband or wile of the scholar is also in receipt of an award, or is in paid employment. For such married couples accompanied by their children a child allowance is payable (at the rate of £34 per month each) for the first, second and third child under the age of 16, provided they are residing with their parents.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS

CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Chinese Government offers Scholarship tenable from September for higher studies/research/specialized training in the subject fields of Chinese Language and Literature, Political Science, Zoology, Economics, Plant Breeding and Genetics, Environmental Science, Fine Arts (Painting and Sculpture), History, Fisheries, Agronomy, Sericulture and Botany. The scholarship is extendable on year to year basis.

Eligibility: Age limit: Below 40 years by September. Relaxation for SC/ST etc. candidates is two years. Qualifications: (i) Chinese Language & Literature: Two or three years basic grounding in Chinese Language, (i.e. either a certificate/ degree/diploma from reputed/recognised institutions), (ii) Fine Arts (Painting & Sculpture): Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts with 60% marks in aggregate.
(iii) Other subjects: Should have obtained Postgraduate degree with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in a related subject along with 2 years teaching/work/ research experience in the related field after obtaining the prescribed qualification. Candidates have to undergo Chinese language study for one year prior to undertaking study in the areas of their choice.

Value of Scholarships: The Chinese Government pays a sum of Yuans 1400/ - pm. to all senior advanced students, Yuans 1100/- pm. to ordinary graduate students, and Yuans 800/-pm. to undergraduate students. In addition, Government of India is paying supplementary grant of Yuans 1170/- p.m. Govt.of China would provide boarding, lodging, medical care and bear expenditure on tuition and other fees etc. In addition Govt. of India is also giving grant to supplement the scholarship.

Cost of Passage: Govt. of India would bear the international passage cost from India to China and back.

Belgian Government Scholarships are offered to Indian nationals residing in India for Postgraduate studies in the following subjects:

(ADCOS)-AUSTRALIA
Fifty percent (50% slots of scholarship are earmarked for female candidates. Under the above mentioned scheme, 30 (Thirty) scholarships are offered for higher studies/research leading to a Master/Doctoral degree.

Value: Scholarships cover: (a) full tuition fees; (b) economy class airfare (Both ways) to Australia and back; (c) Living allowance to cover housing and food for the duration of the scholarships (this is also payable during semester and annual break). Age: Candidates for Master’s Degree should not have exceeded 30 years of age by January.

Minimum Qualification:

For Masters Degree: One must have completed Bachelors Degree in one of the subject fields indicated below securing 55% or above marks in Humanities and Social Science group and 60% orabove marks in Engineering, Technology and Science group. Candidate should give one page academic justification for going to Australia for Master Degree. The candidate must have completed tertiary education in English Medium.

1. Candidates who have already been abroad for study/training/specialisation either on scholarship or on their own for a period exceeding six months are eligible to apply only if they have been in Indian for at least two consecutive years after their return from abroid.

2. Candidate applying for Master Degree should enclose one/two pages of note justifying their proposed study in Australia.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN AL-AZHAR UNIVERSITY

AL-AZHAR UNIVERSITY (Cairo)

Scholarships are offered to Indian nationals residing in India; for Postgraduate
studies in the following subject-fields:

(i) Arabic (ii) Shariat Law (iii) Islamic Theology (Islamic Dawa) (iv) Arabic and Islamic studies (v) Language (vi) Faculty of Language and Interpretation English Section (vii) Same faculties for girls (viii) Faculty of Education-Section of Arabic languages and Islamic religion.

Qualifications: Bachelor degree in the relevant subject with marks at least 60%.

Age: Up to 33 years on 1st October (relaxable up to 2 years in the case of
[ SC/ST).

Value: The scholarship consists of monthly allowance of LE 110 (including accommodation) out of which 40 LE are deducted for University hostel charges. Hostel facilities are only available for boys. Preparation allowance of LE 60 and Books allowance of LE 25 to be paid once upon arrival. The equivalent of month allowance to be paid at the end of the studies.

Passage Cost: The return ticket is provided by Al-Azhar University if the candidate successfully completes the studies. Travel expenses from India to Egypt are borne by the candidate. However the Government of India may also consider a request in this regard if the total annual income in the case <es not exceed Rs. 12,000/-.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES: These are offered to students with disabilities for financial assistance for pursuing higher and technical education.

Eligibility: Financial assistance is available to Indian students with certified disabilities.

Financial assistance is given for post matric/post secondary professional course in recognized institutions.

Scholarship are awarded for one course to one student. Financial assistance can be given for computer with editing software for blind & deaf graduate and postgraduate students pursuing professional courses and for support access software for cerebral palsied students.

Students with disabilities, who have passed matriculation/ secondary or any higher examination1 from a recognized board/ University, would be eligible for the assistance.

Continuation/renewal of the award for next year would depend on successfully completing the course in the preceding year with minimum 50 percent marks.

Assistance is not available for courses having duration of less than one year.

A scholarship holder under this scheme would not hold any other scholarship/ stipend. If awarded any other scholarship/ stipend, the student can exercise his/ her option for choosing the scholarship that he/she proposes to avail and inform awarding authority about the same.

For availing financial assistance under this scheme monthly family income of the beneficiary should not be more than Rs. 15,000/- from all sources. Family income would include income of the parent/guardian.

Awards: 500 awards are made available for pursuing higher and technical education and given through institutions in which students undertake the study. Awards are given to different categories of disabled students in following number.

Amount of awards would vary among courses and would also depend on availability of hostel/residential facility with the institution. The details are given below :

The awardees would also be reimbursed the course fee subject to a ceiling of Rs. 10,000 per year.

Besides students living in the hostel/ residential facility provided by the institution, those students would also be considered hostellers who live in an accommodation hired at least by a group of 3 students living together with common mess arrangements. Such students would have to furnish a certificate in this regard countersigned by head of the institution.

Merit scholarship to college/professional institution students belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Economically Depressed Sections (EDS)/ Minorities:

Eligibility Criteria for College/Professional Institutions:

(1) OnlySaST/OBQED/Minoritiesstudentsareeligible.lncaseofSaSTStudents they should obtain 60% or more marks. OBC/EDS/Minorities students should score 70% or more marks at Sr. Secondary Examination/graduate level and get admission in recognised college/professional/technical institutions.

(2) Scholarship would be granted to students of 3 years degree courses, post graduate studies at college level and professional courses of graduate degree and post graduate level and Diploma studies.

(3) There shall be no limit of income for the applicant/parents/guardians for grant of scholarship in respect of SC/ST students. However, family income limit of Rs. 48,000 p.a. is applicable for the parents/guardians belonging to OBC, Economically Depressed Section and minorities.

(4) Students should have SC/ST/OBC/EDS/Minorities certificate issued by deputy Commissioner, Delhi.

(5) The rate of scholarship would be reduced to 50% in case of a student who fails in the annual examination but continues studies except in cases where the student fails to appear in the annual examination on medical grounds or due to natural calamities or any other reasons beyond his/her control.

(6) International non-appearance in the annual examination would disqualify the student from the grant of scholarship during the next academic year

(7) Students belonging to OBC/EDS/Minorities should not be in receipt of scholarship from any other sources.

Merit scholarship are disbursed through ‘Bearer cheques, which are issued by DSCST to individual students along with their parents. The Directorate, of Hr. education would send institution wise list of eligible students indicating the name and amount payable to each.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN NCC CADET WELFARE SOCIETY

NCC CADET WELFARE SOCIETY awards 500 Scholarships of Rs. 5000 each to meritorious NCC cadets out of NCC Cadets Welfare Society Funds every year for Senior Division/Senior Wing cadets and junior Division/Junior Wing candidates.

Eligibility: Senior Division/Wing Cadets

(i) The scholarship for the Senior Division/Wing is awarded to the cadets who have passed 2nd year course of Graduate Degree Examination or Diploma course in polytechnic. The total number of scholarships available is equally divided between Science and Arts/Commerce streams, provided sufficient number of applications in each stream are available.

(ii) The applicant should have obtained minimum of 70% marks in the aggregate in case of Science stream and 60% in the case of Arts/Commerce stream.

(iii) The applicant should have undergone training in the NCC as a SD/SW cadet for at least two full years continuously with a minimum of 80% attendance in each year with exemplary discipline.

(iv) The Scheduled Caste/Scheduled/Tribe and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) applicants are given relaxation by 5% marks. The OBC candidates are required to attach a certificate with the application. Specimen of which can be obtained from their respective NCC Cp HQ.

NATIONAL THERMAL POWER CORPORATION LTD., offers Scholarships for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Physically Disabled Engineering students to enable them in their quest for a brighter future.

Eligibility: Students belonging to 5C/ST/Physically Disabled category {Visually Handicapped/Hearing Handicapped/Orthopedically Handicapped) and pursuing full time degree in Engineering in the discipline of Electrical/Electronics/ Instrumentation /Mechanical/Computer Science/Telecommunications from a recognised institute and should be in the second year of the course having successfully completed the first year degree course. SAFMADANJEET SINGH SCHOLARSHIPS:SAF Distance Learning Academic Council grants SAF Madanjeet Singh Scholarships annually in higher education and vocational training for students who are socially and economically disadvantaged. These scholarships are allocated to Indian students, including the deprived youngsters from the SAF-affiliated SOS villages and scout associations. The applicant must not exceed the age of 30.
