SIA YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS
Singapore Airlines offers scholarships for a 2-year pre-university course in top junior colleges in Singapore. Studies commencing in January would lead to the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level), which is an international qualification widely recognised by many countries.

Award: The scholarship provides a maintenance allowance of S$ 24,00 per annum, an accommodation and settling-in allowan ce, tuition fees and other compulsory fees, return air passage at the beginning and end of the scholarship term.

There is no bond attached to the scholarship, Scholars who have done well can apply for further scholarships to pursue university studies in Singapore or overseas universities.

Who can apply: Students who are Indian nationals, completing Standard 10, are eligible to apply. Applicants should possess an outstanding academic track record (at least an average of 85%) with English as first language in the Standard 10 State/National examinations.

How to apply: You have to fill in the prescribed encloser certified true copies of the following documents in the order indicated below:

1. Certified copy of Standard 10 National/State examination result slip

2. A curriculum vitae (Not exceeding one page) with your full name, mailing .address and a summary of major achievements (Please indicate if you have been shortlisted for the NTS interview)

3. Certified copies of school examination results of Class 8, 9 and 10

4. Achievements/awards won and participation in extra-curricular activities in Class 8, 9 and 10

Tests & Interviews: Shortlisted candidates are invited to sit for selection tests in India in September. Candidates would then be further shortlisted for an interview in India in October.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN INDIAN MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD

INDIAN MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD is organised by Mathematics Today Olympiad Committee. This countrywide Mathematics Olympiad is organised in two phases. In the first phase, preliminary screening test of 25 objective questions are published in Mathematics Today. The final examination is conducted in select cities all over the country.

Top 100 successful, candidates (based on minimum criteria) are eligible for merit scholarships for doing higher education in Mathematics/Physics/ Engineering. A running trophy is awarded to the school to which the top Olympian belongs.

All India Talent Scholarship to students who have passed Std. X or Std. XI! and have secured admission this year in government or recognised poiytechmics for Diploma courses. Preference would be given to girl students, children of armed forces personnel.

Value and Tenure: Annual Scholarships of Rs. 5,000/- tenable for these courses for a maximum period of three academic years would be awarded to successful candidates provided their performance during the subsequent academic years is satisfactory.

SCHOLARSHIPS IN DEPARTMENT FOR THE WELFARE OF SC/ST/OBC/ MINORlTIES

DEPARTMENT FOR THE WELFARE OF SC/ST/OBC/ MINORlTIES, offers Post Matric scholarships to the students belonging to schedule caste for pursuing further studies at post matriculation/post secondary (college/university) levels within India.

Eligibility:(i) SC students whose parents/guardians incomes from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1 lakh per annum, who are ursuing post matriculation/post-secondary (college/university) level studies in Govt. recognized Institutions during the current academic year, (ii) Students pursuing studies through correspondence courses are also eligible, (iii) All the children of the same family/parents are also eligible subject to the Income limit of the parents. Students availing any other scholarship/stipend such as merit scholarships would not be eligible for this scholarship.

Value of Scholarship: Value of scholarship includes maintenance allowance, additibnal allowance for students with disabilities, reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable tees, study tour charges, thesis typing/printing charges, book allowance for students pursuing correspondence course for complete duration of the course.

The details are as follows:

Maintenance Allowance: For Group I: Degree and Postgraduate level courses (including M.Phil, Ph.D and Post Doctoral research) in Medicines (Allopathic, Indian and other recognized systems of medicines), Engineering, Technology, Agriculture, Veterinary and Allied Sciences, Management, Business Finance, Business Administration and Comnuter Applications/Science. Commercial Pilot License (including helicopter pilot and Multi Engine rating) Course. Rs. 740 for hostellers and
Rs. 330 for Day Scholars.

For Group II: Other professional and technical graduate and post graduate (including M.Phil Ph.D and Post Doctoral research) level courses in Group I. C.A./ ICWA/CS/ etc. courses. All post graduate, graduates level diploma courses, all certificate level courses : Rs. 510 for hostellers and 330 for day Scholars

For Group III: All other courses leading to graduate or above degree (not covered in Group I & II.): Rs. 355 for hostellers and Rs. 185 for day scholars. For Group IV: All post matriculation level courses before taking up graduation like classes XI and XII in 10 + 2 system and intermediate examination etc. not covered in Group II or III. ITI courses, other vocational courses (if minimum required qualification to pursue the course is at least matriculation: Rs. 235 for hostellers and . Rs. 140 for day scholars.

Additional Allowances for SC students with disabilities, transport allowance for disabled students, Escort Allowance, Special pay and other allowances are admissible as per rules in force.

Fees: Scholars would be paid enrolment/registration, tuition, games, Union, Library, Magazine, Medical Examination and such other fees compulsorily pay¬able by the scholar to the Institution/University/Board. Refundable deposit like caution money, security, deposit would however be excluded.

Study Tours: Study Tour charges up to a maximum of Rs.1000/- per annum, limited to the actual expenditure incurred by the sti nt on transportation charges etc. would be paid to the scholars s* lying professional and technical courses, provided that the head of the institution certifies that the study tour is essential for the scholar for completion to his/her course of study.

Thesis Typing/printing charges: Up to a maximum or Rs. 1000/- would be paid to research scholarship on the recommendation of the Head of the Institution.

Correspondence courses including distance and continuing education: Students pursuing such courses are also eligible for an annual allowance or Rs. 750/- for essential/prescribed books, besides remorselessness of curses fees.
