(i) Part Time Research Associateship for Women.: Eligibility: Ph.D., 1st class Masters degree and a minimum of 55% for Bachelors degree. The candidate should be unemployed. Independent research/published work is desirable. Age: Not more than 50 years as on the specified date. Number of Associateships: 100. Duration: 5 years.
Value: Rs.6000 pm (Fresh Doctorates), Rs.8000 pa (Candidates with 5-year research experience and recommendation of Expert Committee). Contingency Grant: Rs.10000 pa. Escorts/Reader Assistance: Rs.1000 pm (For physically handicapped and blind candidates). Overhead Charges: 10% of the Associateship payable to the Host Institution.
(ii) Junior Research Fellowships in Engineering and Technology. Eligibility: Masters in Engineering /Technology /Pharmacy with a minimum of 55% marks. Age: Not more than 40 years as on the specified date of the year of award (5 years relaxation in age for women and SC/ST candidates). Number of Fellowships: 50. Duration: 2 years.
Value: Rs.10000 p.m. Contingency Grant: Rs.25000 p.a. (other allowances as per the University rules). Selection is based on merit and an Interview conducted by committee, appointed by UGC.
Notification: Notified once a year in leading newspapers as well as AIU Newsletter.
(iii) Research Scientists. Subject: Science:’About the Scheme: The Research Scientistship is meant for Indian Nationals who have been awarded Ph.D. and who wish to pursue research in whole time basis by attachment in a University of their choice. It is also aimed at facilitating Indian Scholars abroad who wish to return to India and do research work here.
Eligibility: Persons with teaching/research experience with Ph.D. degree and minimum experience of 2 years after Ph.D. degree. Age: not exceeding 35 years as on the specified date. Selection is made on the basis of interview. Last date: 15 August.
(iv) SAARC Fellowships
Eiigibility: Experienced scholar with high quality published work.
The candidate should
1. Be an Indian national,
2. Have a permanent position in a University/College/Education Centre in India,
3. Not accepted any other appointment during the tenure of Fellowship.
Number of Fellowships: Bangladesh (6), Bhutan (1), Nepal (1), Pakistan (6), Sri Lanka (6). Duration: 1-year (2 years for Srilanka). Age: Below 35 years of age for Fellowship in Sri Lanka.

Travel Grant: UGC provides excursion/economy class airfare for International travel. Travel cost is reimbursed to the parent institution of the Fellow.
Selection Procedure: Applications short-listed by the UGC are sent to the host countries via the Ministry of External Affairs/SAARC Secretariat. Selected candidates are intimated about the selection and the terms and conditions of the Fellowship at feast 2 months prior to the beginning of the academic year.
