DR. P.N. BERRY’S SCHOLARSHIPS
These scholarships are offered for one year extended for a further period of six months in exceptional cases.
Subject: Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy.
Eligibility: Candidates should be ordinarily residents in India for at least five years preceding October 1. These scholarships are tenable at a medical institution in the U.K.
Age limit: 40 years.
Value: Airfares, allowances, book grant, cost of preparation of thesis, cost of travel within UK in connection with training or studies. Registration fee payable to the General Medical Council, Nursing Council and Medical Protection fee. Normally a tuition fee for any course of studies is not payable out of the Trust fund but the trustees may consider providing some financial assistance towards this fee.

I, Pooja Modi, am a physiotherapist by profession working in the social sector. I am working with an NGO namely Apnalaya (www.apnalaya.org) which is situated in Urban slums of Mumbai. My present work comprises of working with disabled children and setting up a rehabilitation center for them.
I wish to pursue my further studies in the field of Public Health in Sheffield University, UK. I have been invited for my studies at this University as I was a Europubhealth Applicant from India. I wish to specialize in the field of Disability and Mother and Child Health (MCH). I possess excellent academic results with aggregate of 70.2% and 6th Rank in the University. Also, I was entitled to a gold medal.

•Poster presentation on “Physiotherapy Towards Independence-Gandhian Era”, acquired 1st position at IAP (Indian Association of Physiotherapy) (2006).
•Poster presentation on Myocardial Infarction. (2005)
•Trained Ayurvedic Massage Therapist.(2005)
•Best NSS camper, (2003).
•Served as Joint Secretary Rotract Club Mangalore Central.(2006)
•Participated in TV game show Close-Up Antakshari (1996).
