One Response to “SCHOLARSHIPS IN INDIAN COUNCIL FOR PHILOSOPHICAL RESEARCH”

  1. Dear Sir,

I am not supposed to apply.Just to know about the prospect of these articles and books on philosophy I write to you. Wouyld you kindly advise me as how and where to get an entry?

“Landmarks of the Mystery of the Universe Unraveled by Ma-Mahajnan” is one of my books which I want to get published by a reputed publishing house right now. Aren’t you at Publishing? If not, would you kindly arrange?

I enjoy writing; naturally the articles I write time to time may also be considered for publication and my earnings. In this connection would you kindly direct me as how far you will be to provide me?

I am to earn my living and, at the same time, keep our philanthropic activities on going. How far you can help me, in some way or the other, please?

    Asokananda Prosad of “Ma-Mahajnan Mandir”,
    P.O. - Inda, Kharagpur - 721305, India.

    An Introduction In Brief

Straightforwardly, in this venture I may not be a gainer, but, on no account, you should be a loser. What I have collected, compiled and translated during my long stay in the enlivening contact of Ma-Mahajnan, is always of serious apprehension in the world of Philosophy, Science and Literature.

Without any introduction I would like to draw your kind attention to numerous discourses, songs and sermons of Ma-Mahajnan, expressed in a state of ‘Conscious Trance’. There are two things of great importance in her philosophy of life and they should be realized by every human being before one aims at the ultimate goal.

One is as Ma-Mahajnan, the matchless genius, proclaims in very many ways—“There’s no rebirth.” All that we have to do encompasses only one life. There is no scope for elevation or manipulation in the next birth, since it is simply out of question. It obviously goes against the purport of the Vedas and other parallel philosophies where rebirth appears.

The other is very striking, indeed. “The origin of everything—living and non-living, is nothing but something vaporous.” Mother’s realization doesn’t tally at all with Darwinism, which is now widely accepted. In the question of awakening our spirit of fighting against Terrorism Mother’s philosophy of life may help us to a great extent. Yes, it is hard to believe. To enhance the spirit, please pay us a kind visit. It would help you to know everything in your own way.

After my graduation from Bengal Engineering College (lately known as B.E.S.U.) in 1963, I came to know about a virtuous mother, locally known as Kalima and later widely as Ma-Mahajnan. I didn’t accept any service nor did I join hands with my father who was then a renowned businessman in the district of Howrah. I didn’t marry to misuse time. During my long forty-five year stay in the ennobling contact of Ma-Mahajnan, the Great Mother, I realized that her genius was beyond any measure.

I couldn’t but collect her songs and sermons, catechism and discourse, expressed in a state of “Conscious Trance”. Along with a few of my brothers and sisters in the Ashram and Mandir (temple) I recorded those in tapes and cassettes. Subsequently, I compiled them in book form and got quite a few translated from Bengali into English.

Though bound up by a thousand ties in the mundane world, ever she remains an unusual seer, a matchless path-finder. Much earlier, for a span of eight years, apart from domestic duties and devotees’ problems, she dictated everyday for four hours, the matter for more than one hundred original and precious volumes.

She doesn’t think fit to revise and blot even a single word. She observes, a correction is needed only where one makes a slip. Where ornamentation amounts to a travesty of truth, can correction in such places claim to reveal the truth in exact form? She, even today at the age of 80, often guides us to remain engrossed, amidst adverse situations, in thinking and reasoning. Naturally, we expect you to be, at least, once with us in her ennobling contact to know everything in your own way.

She did not hold pen to write out but spoke at length whenever she felt like creating something. And it is far more astonishing, when we got those tape recorded or in black and white, she did not care for any interruption. She is so eloquent in all her expressions that we remain ever simply spell-bound. What a strange absurdity! We could make no sense of this Miracle.

    * * * * *

However, the theme of ‘Unraveling of the Mystery of the universe’ is not one to be easily understood by discussion. Faced with innumerable complex questions, renowned philosophers, distinguished scientists, eminent scholars and even a great ascetic will feel seriously perplexed to arrive at a firm conclusion.

It can neither be understood by reading nor explained by words how hastily she has solved all the riddles slowly by treading along the intractable path of spiritual realization. But one should be delighted to find the aspects intelligible through her scientific way of thinking and in the manner she answers all the questions put to her even in the midst of many adverse situations.

In five successive chapters Ma-Mahajnan has set forth her special theme of philosophy on ‘Real and Unreal’. To be familiar with all that comes to finding the way. By her rational discussion of subjects, she offers a sound authority for unraveling all kinds of mystery.

But all that we need to solve or come to a conclusion; we must have a definite plan. From that outlook ‘Improvement desired in the Planning’ has added some points of serious thinking.

In the chapter ‘Ghost and God’ she deals with the question of seeking one’s fortune. We have got to establish what exists actually. Believing both ghost and God can never be supported by logical organization.

Next, ‘Discovery of the Infinite’ points to far horizons. We must have clear conception about ‘atman’ (soul), ‘Paramatman’ and the Primordial Essence’—their relations with one another, ‘The Essential Truths’, ‘Acceptance and Permanence of Truth’ etc.

Thereafter, in ”Discussing Wonders”, she says about ‘Form of Desire’, she refutes ideas like ’Remembering one’s former birth, ‘Who talks of Rebirth’, ‘The where and how of Rebirth’ and ultimately she explains about ‘The Transcendent Feeling and Essential Truths’ and firmly establishes the validity of ‘free-will or personal initiative’.

The concluding chapter, “Universal Solution Offering Tranquility” points to fruitful harmony and ultimate realization. To know everything without a flaw amounts to gaining the most precious of treasures. Then let us spread it all out wide open from the very beginning—starting with ‘finding the way’ and ending with ’supreme realization’.

Here may be observed marked-out areas, dark with mystery. The idea is clearly borne in upon us that the Universe is not as very mysterious as we are wont to think.

But it is no easy matter to distill the ‘essence’ of custom or tradition and realize the truth of any scientific approach and spiritual effort. Delusions may mislead one at every step; light and darkness, constantly alternating, will dazzle one’s eyes. But why should I feel afraid? I have got hold of the thread’s end.
