About the NIRD: NIRD is an apex institution conducting multi-disciplinary research, training, consultancy and action research in the field of Rural Development. The institute provides inter¬disciplinary academic environment, backed by a state of the art infrastructure and other support services. About 5000 development organisations including public representative take part in training, seminars, workshops, research, and the activities in the field of Rural Development. Scores of Participants from many developing countries also attend various international programmes. The institute acts as a think- tank for policy intervention as well as for courses correction in the process of implementation of Rural Development programmes with particular focus on weaker sections and poverty amelioration programmes.
The duration of Fellowship is generally up to two years but shorter periods of one year could also be considered. Outline of the proposed projects with its objectives, methodology, time frame and geographical areas along with other details need to be given along with the application. A Fellow is expected to take up training session each month and organize one National Workshop or Seminar on a relevant theme in a year, Director general. In addition to this may allocate further areas of activities depending upon the need of the Institute and interest of the fellow.
A fellow is primarily expected to take up research projects in any area of his/her choice within the spectrum of Rural Development issues as indicate in the information sheet in the website of NIRD.
