offers following Scholarships/ Fellowships: (i) Biomedical Research Grant Program; (ii) Patient Management Technology Grant Program; (iii) Pilot Research Grant Program; (iv) Health Services Research Grants Program; (v) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program; (vi) Advance Postdoctoral Fellowship Program; (vii) Senior Faculty Award; (viii) Harry Weaver Neuroscience Scholarship (Junior Faculty Award) in research of relevance to the problems of multiple Sclerosis: Immunology, Genetics, Neurobiology, Neurophysiology , Virology, Neuropathology, Neuroimaging, Neurology, Biochemistry/Biophysics, Epidemiology, Psychosocial/Rehabilitation, Measuring activity in multiple Sclerosis, Biology of Glia, diagnostic methods, therapy of multiple sclerosis for (i) and (ii) one to five years; (iii) and (iv) one year; (v) and (vi) one to third years; (vii) varies; (viii) five years.
Eligibility : Nationals of all countries: (i) and (ii) who must be faculty member affiliated with an appropriate research institution; (iii) investigators at established research institutions who require funds to develop concepts and obtain preliminary data; (iv) principal investigators affiliated with academic and medical institutions, government agencies, community groups, etc., and professionally qualified individuals; (v) and (vi) candidates for an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree, who have completed less than one year of prior postdoctoral training at the time of application at United States institutions; (vii) established investigators who seek support to obtain specialized training in some field which will materially enhance their capacity to conduct more meaningful research into multiple sclerosis; (viii) holders of an M.D., a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, with no more than five years of independent research experience; candidates must hold or have been offered position equivalent to assistant professor at a United States research or medical institution.
Value: (i), (ii) and (vii) varies with each project; (iii) and (iv) not exceeding $20,000 ; (v) and (vi) varies with qualifications and experience of candidate; {viii) stipend: up to 75 per .cent annual salary, not to exceed $50,000 in first year, with 5 per cent annual increase in each of remaining four years; research support: up to $25,000 in first year and increasing to $35,000 in fifth year.When and whom to apply: (i) and (ii) by 1 February and 1 August; (iii) and (iv) at any time; (v) to (vi) by 1 February; to the Research and Medical Programs Department at above address.
