SCHOLARSHIPS IN SAHA INSTITUTE OF NUCLEAR PHYSICS
SAHA INSTITUTE OF NUCLEAR PHYSICS (Aided Institute under Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India) Sector-1, Block-’AF’, Bidhannagar, Kolkata 700064 (West Bengal) offers Undergraduate Associateship to students of Physics (B.Sc. Honours or 5-year integrated M.Sc.) of any Indian University or Institute like IIT.
Eligibility: Those who have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations in the year of notification or the preceding year are eligible.
Undergraduate Associates {about 10 in number each year) are to be entitled to short supplementary courses, Laboratory demonstrations and/or mini-projects at 5INP lasting about a week at a time for a total of about 45-90 days over the undergraduate period (2-3 years). Appropriate topics are chosen by the students and the guides appointed for them. They receive allowances @ Rs. 150/- per day for the duration of such activity, with travelling allowances (up to AC III tier train fare) if based outside kolkata. In addition there are book grants of Rs. 6,000/- per annum. A certificate is issued on completion of this Undergraduate Associateship Programme.
After evaluation at the end of this programme, a few of the Undergraduate Associates would be selected as Graduate Associates of SNIP, and awarded scholarships if they pursue M.Sc. courses in Physics. During vacation in this period, they would work on projects lasting about a month each year at SINP. On successful completion of the M.Sc. Course with first class or equivalent grades, they would be absorbed as research fellows of SINP’with the usual fellowship.
