Course commencing – Aug 2007

Applications are invited from unmarried Male and Female Indian Citizens for Short Service Commission Officers in the Education Branch of the Indian Navy for Course commencing Aug 2007 at naval Academy (NAVAC), INS Zamorin, Ezhimala, Kerala.

Eligibility conditions: Age. 21 to 25 years (candidate to be born between 02 Aug 1982 and 01 Aug 1986 both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualifications: (a) BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in aggregate from an institution recognized by AICTE in any one of the following:-

Electronics
Electrical
Mechanical
IT/Computer Science

(b) A Master’s Degree with minimum 50% marks in aggregate from a recognized University in Physics or Mathematics. Those with Master’s Degree in Physics should have studied Mathematics and those with Mathematics should have studied Physics, as subsidiary subject at the graduation level.

Note: Candidates who have not completed their BE/B.Tech Or Master’s Degree (i.e. appearing candidates) need not apply, their applications will not be accepted.

Physical standards: a) Height and weight: Minimum height Male – 157 cms, Female – 152 cms with correlated weight. (b) Eye Sight: The minimum acceptable standard for distant vision 6/60, 6/60 correctable to 6/6, 6/12 with glasses. Should not be colour/night blind.

Short Service Commission Short Service Commission is granted for a period of 10 years, extendable to 14 years subject to service requirement and performance/willingness of the candidate. On completion of these tenures, officers are entitled for gratuity under the extant rules. Disciplined life, leadership qualities and professional skills imbibed during the service would stand as added advantage in acquiring second post exit from the Navy.

How to apply: (a) If you meet the above requirements, apply on plain A4 size paper (typed or handwritten) in the prescribed format duly completed in all respects with superscription on the envelope “Education Branch – Aug – 2007course, Educational Qualification (BE/B.Tech) ……M.Sc. (Physics/ Maths) as applicable)Aggregate Percentage …….%” are to be sent to the address given below by 04 Feb 2007, Application sent by Speed Post/Regd Post/Courier/Email will not be accepted.

(b) Application must be sent in the format given in this advertisement, otherwise it will be rejected.
(c) Application must be accompanied by attested copies of:-
(i) 10th standard certificate for verification of date of birth and other educational certificates.
(ii) Marks statement of all semesters/years.
(d) Application and requisite enclosures must be properly tagged/stitched by thread only. IHQ – MoD (N) will not be responsible for loss Enclosures if sent loose.

Selection procedure
(a) The candidates will be issued call up for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews based on their performance in BE/B Tech & Master’s Degree Courses. No communication will be entertained on this account. If a candidate possess higher qualification with better percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cut off. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) [IHQ – MoD (Navy)} reserves the right to shortlist applications and to fix cut off percentage without assigning any reason. No communication will be entertained on this account.

(b) SSB interviews for short listed candidates will be scheduled during Feb 07 to Jul 07 at Bangalore /Bhopal/Coimbatore.

(c) The total duration of SSB interviews is of 5 days, consisting Stage I (Day one) and Stage II (Four days). Stage I Tests consist of Intelligence Tests, Picture Perception and Group Discussion Tests. Candidates who to qualify in Stage I will be routed back on the same day from SSB centre. Stage II Tests consist of Psychological Tests, Group Task Tests and Interview. Successful candidates will therafter undergo Special Medical Examination at the same venue (approx duration 3 – 5 days).

(d) Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training in order of All India Merit depending on the number of vacancies.
